Trollbreaker
- You defend Bronzewick from the assaults of the Trolls. Work comes
in cycles. Some seasons, the trolls are ravenous, and show up in great
numbers, eating everything from tree to bone. (Those are bad times to
be a 'Breaker.) Other
seasons, they aren't too bad, and you spend your days with a hammer,
breaking the petrified trolls into gravel and dust. You've just finished
another contract and are thinking that there must be more to life than
breaking trollstone into pebbles. It is time to go see the world. There
is a vessel coming to trade with Hilm in two weeks; now you've just
gotta keep the trolls from eating the ship when it gets here!
Equipment & Supplies: A sturdy iron
warhammer and chisel, a canvass bag for trollstone rubble, some puckered scars,
a heavy shield, a straw hat to shield your head from the sun, ill-fitting bronze
scale mail that is much too hot, a shaving razor, a copper cup & plate,
iron-capped buckle boots, a deck of worn toth playing cards, a war pick, a copper
canteen, an expired trollbreaker contract, a bed roll, a bag of red potatoes,
a good belt, a vial of salt, a gallon of kerosene, a tough great helm covered
with chew marks, simple clothes for hot regions, 5 wound cloths, and paid passage
to one of the following places: Darkbury Port, Tothane, Threepenny, or Veldune.
Gadabout - You drift from place to place, without much direction.
You are a survivor and a jack-of-all-trades, and you have worked in
stables, pubs, shops, guilds, and even as a city guard. Unfortunately,
you outgrew Bronzewick years ago, and have grown bored of it's dusty
summers and fairly uneventful routines. (As long as the trolls sleep.)
It is time to go out and see more of the Lands, and leave your dry,
dusty past behind.
Equipment & Supplies: A lazy
eye, a fairly complete set of cobbler's tools, some needles and thread,
3 wound cloths, a cheap lantern and a gallon of low quality oil, a big
straw hat, a pair of hard soled shoes, a fake ruby, a stuffed squirrel,
a tin of peanuts, a large dress, a pair of bone dice, a bent (but sharp)
dagger, a flint wheel, 3 thieves picks, a sack of dried corn, a small
bag of marbles, a canvass sling, a belt pouch, a small liar, a troll
tooth trapped in amber, a blank parchment scroll, some luck tokens,
a large canvass pack, a water skin, a walking pole with parasol top,
a quill and green ink, a whetstone, a small hammer and 300 nails, a
small saw, a bone pipe carved into the likeness of a drann head, a bag
of strange shells, a bottle of harsh ale, and a sailor friend who can
stow you on a ship bound for: Choose one: Darkbury Port, Vlon, or Ryl.
