Description: |

This ancient text is covered in an ancient and very worn leather cover of a dark blue shade. The writing on the front and spine is so worn as to be unreadible. The few characters that can be made out appear to be a very archaic form of the common tongue. The book is held closed with a leather flap that extends from the back cover, over the pages, and affixes to a small metal ring on the front of the book. The ring currenlt has a small piece of ancient yellow bone holding the strap in place.
Although it has yet to be opened in the presence of the company, the pages appear to be of a very thin and fine white leather. The edges that are visible appear to be very worn and damaged by small cuts, fire, stains, etc. The tome is about the size and weight of a standard encyclopedia. It's mere presence brings a strong sense of solemn justice. It is clearly a powerful artifact of law and extremely resistant to damage (i.e. very hard to destroy, just like those pesky evil artifacts). It would be safe to assume that it would also cause some degree of fear in unlawful individuals and may even do damage to them if it touched them.
Information provided to the company indicates that the tombs contains writings of Jarrick, as comprised by a 1st Age Avatar. Father Dun believes that in addition to writings on faith, law, etc. that the tome likely contains the words of power that give command over some of the mighty workings attributed to Jarricks greatest followers. Such workings include the ending of plagues, healing, casting down walls, and smiting of foes in a variety of ways. Use of the tome by any but true followers of Jarrick, guarded by the shield of wisdom, could be very dangerous, for the worker as well the lands about. |

While the company was away, laying waste to the plans of one Redbone Shaman by the name of Gath, Father Dun turned the bulk of his time to quiet reflection and study of the Tome of Jarrick.
He has successfully opened the book and worked his way through the protections of madness and desctruction that protected it. The earliest pages provide a number of Jarrikane parables and end with a question. The correct answers are often obscure and require extensive scholarly training in Jarrikane lore, a good deal of worldly experience, an ample dose of wisdome, and even a pinch of luck. Fortunately Dun is one of the foremost Jarrikane scholars in the world who spent a couple decades traveling as a Justicar.
Having penetrated the protective workings, Dun has discovered that the bulk of the text appears to be prayers and charms that allow initiated followers of Jarricks to perform his works.
The early pages includes mantras such as: Commune Bless (can create holy water, a short term holy weapon, etc) Purify food and water Detect Evil Fear to the unliving Fear to Evil Detect Lies
Based on his historic studies, Dun believes that further into the books will be workings that can cure wounds, remove disease, sanctify holy places and items, create protective workings, smite down foes, and perhaps even cure plauges or cause earthquakes. Mighty were the workings attributed to the followers of Jarrik in Eld Days. Also based on historic writings, it appears that some of the workings will require items such as holy water or symbols and mighter workings may require elaborate rituals or large groups of faithful followers in prayer.
Dun will continue to study the Tome. He indicates that he will be able to teach some of the simpler workings to younger initiated followers of Jarrick such as Jeoffery
Jeoffery, you will only be able to learn a limited number of workings at a time and will need to obtain some degree of mastery before learning new ones. Some you already know like Jarricks Hammer are fairly high level workings. Give some consideration as to what type of workings you would like to learn and let me know before I finish the list of what is available.
