Technology of the Discovered Lands

In the Discovered Lands of the Fourth Age, we have a wide variety of “technology”, though it falls short of the achievement of past ages.

In Skorbael the soldiers rely upon crude pig-iron weapons and armor, made from the low quality ores of the region. In Brikka, bone implements are much favored, due to the fact that the Tuumbrik people know little of metalworking. In Antharis, a silverite alloy is deftly forged with poisons, creating the artful weeping steel Aelanith blades.

Most cultures utilize iron as the metal standard, so if it’s not otherwise detailed, use iron. Many backwater locales utilize bronze, while there are still “primitives” that use nothing more than stick, stone, and bone.

The Galilae Republic is at the forefront of technological achievement, creating wonders that rely upon the powers of Crystallar, steam, and springs.

To date, Galilae has "invented":

  • High quality steel
  • Thunderlock arquebus and bombards
  • High quality plate mail
  • Combination locks
  • The Crystallar Clockwork (A mechanism that is capable of extracting power from the Crystallar)
  • Clockwork swords, hammers, and lamps
  • Steam powered printing press
  • Spring powered harpischord
  • Steam powered rail
  • Clockwork Juggernaut

Antharis utilizes:

  • High quality silverite alloys (some even based in Mithralis)
  • Zeppelins
  • Slave power instead of a lot of technological innovation

The Durgan Empire has:

  • "Holy" Taon mines (a liquid explosive)
  • High quality steel
  • Excellent quality arms and armor

Technology you won’t find in Agyris:

  • Widespread gunpowder weapons (Galilae has Thunderlocks; the Durga have Taon. There are some cheap knock-offs, but that’s about it)
  • Fossil fuel powered anything (Well, besides “fossil rock”)
  • Time-travel goodies “brought back” to the past
  • Gnome powered stuff (Galilae invention fits this role better; Gnomes don’t exist in Gyr)
  • Motor cycles
  • Machine guns or rail guns
  • Automobiles
