These maps were created by Daniel Davis. You're
welcome to use them in your own games. In the
future, I hope to offer keyed versions, but for
now, you'll just have to decide what goes where.
The maps themselves were drawn by hand, inked,
and then colored in photoshop. Many of the background
textures were also painted by hand with gauche,
a form of watercolor.
The Discovered
Lands Interactive Map (Flash,
414k) This
is an interactive map of the known world, allowing
you to drag a lens around the map, and click on
landmarks of note. It is a large file, but definitely
the most pleasant way to navigate the lands.
The Discovered
Lands Static Map The Discovered Lands(DL) are the
most historically important in all of Gyr. Wars
have raged across the lands countless times, and
the Gods once called the DL home. This region
is the Cradle of Civilization, from which every
culture has sprung. Today, it is the last pocket
of civilization standing against the savage monstrosities
of the unknown.
The
Discovered Lands Atlas This map pinpoints locations and
links to a full description. Descriptive icons differentiate
various features for easy recognition. This is probably
the best way to find specific locations on the map
or get an overall feel for the lay of the land.
Travelers'
Charts This is a great way to plan a trip
in the Discovered Lands of Agyris, but it does much
more. This map lets you plot out courses directly
on the map, then plans the trip for you. It will
tell you distance, directions, estimated travel
times, and points of interest along the way. Also,
it offers overlays that show climate, trade and
pirate routes, fey lines, and more.
Discovered
Lands Voyan Magnified Map- (246k)
The same map as above, but utilizing Flash 4 to
provide a magnifying glass view. It is a very large
file but worth the wait. Shows cities (red gems)
and ruins (green crosses).
Three
Penny is a well known land that
is young, yet hangs on to old tradition. There are
knights there that still defend the Kingdom, and
there is a king to whom they answer. They practice
chivalry, and honor seems to be important there.
They are a bit distant to strangers, until they
get to know you. After that, you've got a friend
for life.
Astrological
Map(50k)
- This is a map of the Agyrian solar system, as
depicted by a Maejiri scholar. It shows the relationships
of the major planets, the sun, and the Chain of
Helgyrit. It could be used to detail planetary alignments,
extra-Gyr travel, or just what planets the Explorers
see in the sky.
Beyond the Discovered
Lands Map(192k)
- This is a Gyrmaster only map, which shows what
is beyond the known world. Keep in mind that in
past ages, MortalKin races controlled this entire
region, but have been pushed back by unspeakable
horrors. At this point, the regions outside the
Discovered Lands are beyond the scope of this
website. Feel free to make up your own information
for these distant lands.
The
Discovered Lands in the 3rd Age Map(214k) - This map
shows what the region of the Discovered Lands looked
like in the last age. In fact, this map shows lands
outside of the DL in the 3rd Age, as well. The land
changes with every ringing, and the primary focus
of this map is to show how much of the land of the
previous age has been lost or has drastically changed.
The
City of Irva (273kk)
- This map shows a bit of the insanity of the Discovered
Lands largest city. Canals, winding streets, private
fortresses, and multi-story hovels define the city
of Irva. Irva is an interesting place to visit,
except that most visitors never seem to remember
to leave.
